Cha Cha Cha Changes...

Hi Everyone, I know, I've been ignoring this blog terribly. So sorry. Honestly, I'm broken...missing my two wolf pups so . very . much! And I've been making some changes in my life. I moved into a new art studio space, like a month ago, and I'm STILL unpacking & organizing. Gah!! It's taking me so much longer than I had anticipated. I'm also researching blogging platforms, e-commerce platforms, and web hosting companies, so I can "go it alone". I'm hoping that I settle on something soon, so I can begin to set-up and get back to writing, crafting/designing/making, and selling. So stayed tune for updates and hopefully, a few new links where you'll be able to find "me & my creative stuffs". Happy Spring!!

Waiting For Spring....

The first few snows are pretty. It's great walking in the woods and on the trail during & after them. But then the long, gray, cold, dark winter with its' snow & solitude become a demon bitch that feeds off ones aching, lonely, disgusted soul.

So I say, come on spring, come on and embrace me with your colors and warm breezes!

Just popping in to share a some links of a few recipes that I just added to my "gotta try" list. Hope everyone has a great weekend!!

Whenever I'm invited to a summer BBQ or garden party, I usually make a quick & easy dessert called "Watergate Salad"....does anyone remembers this simple & delicious recipe from the 70's? It's basically pistachio pudding mix, pineapple in juice, and marshmallows. I know, totally high sugar, but so very good! First Spring Flower

Happy, happy Spring!! First spring bloom!! Yay! It's a wee-little babe....a fresh, young Crocus flower. I discovered her yesterday while out wandering my yard with my pups.

I 'sprinted' back to photograph her once I brought my pups back inside. She was trying so hard to duck down from the slight drizzle. I bent down and reassured her it was fine, not to be afraid, others will sprout from the Earth and join her very soon. She then stood tall, braving the rain, encouraged that she wouldn't be alone for long. I quickly captured a photo of her and 'sprinted' back to my home. Only to get to my driveway, where I heard a "cough" from my newest next door neighbor, who was on her front porch. I glanced at her quickly, and giggled to myself as I imagined what she was thinking at that moment.

"I have the strangest neighbors. The husband walks their massive, wolfy-looking, what they call "pups" at insane hours of the day & night; and the wife 'frolics' through the yard talking to plants & trees, and woodland critters, at all hours. Strange, strange people they are."

My cellphone camera stinks, I should have "sprinted" with my real camera, ugh. Nonetheless, at least I captured a photo of my yard's first spring flower of 2014. Yay!!

Almost Time....

Yesterday, while out for my afternoon walk, you could 'feel' the "awakening" slowly happening in nature. The scent, the movement of the trees when the wind slowly moved past, the color of the landscape. Yes, yes, it's almost time for woodland moss to "shout out" in all its' bright green glory; it's almost time for the buds & blooms to engross the botanicals; it's almost time to walk barefoot in the rain puddles to feel the squishy Earth beneath your toes. I can't wait for blue skies, green fields, fragrant scents, and Earthy mud between my "piggies".

Summer Dreaming

Although it snowed [again] this morning, atop our already 14-inches of snow (give or take), the air had a "touch of spring" and the bird's song was chipper than what it has been.

Spring is definitely on its' way. Today, I was most certainly made aware of this.

When I went for my afternoon walk, I thought about spring, and the summer that would soon follow. I thought about picnics and bike rides; hiking and garden parties; and my Grandchildren and zoos, carnivals, playgrounds, and Knoebels!!

Eye Strain & Pretty Things

I've been overworking myself lately; especially with computer work and designing small jewelry pieces. My eyes are suffering because of it. I upped my intake of Eyebright (*traditionally used for sore eyes, and infection or inflammation of the eyes) and Bilberry (*traditionally used for vision health), but due to the intense workout I have given my eyes these past couple of days, the herbs aren't working quickly enough. So I'm adding a nice little 'me time' to my Sunday to-do list.

Years ago I would watch my Grandmother soothe her tired eyes with fresh cucumbers. She would just thinly slice a cucumber and lay a slice on each of her eyes while resting, listening to the radio. She loved the benefits of her cucumber remedy and highly recommended it to anyone interested. Today there's much talk (and recipes) about the benefits of soothing cucumber for tired, puffy eyes; and for rejuvenating facial masks. {I too suggest trying cucumbers for tired, sore eyes and homemade treatments, the benefits are wonderful}

Although I do use & recommend cucumber treatments, I also add-to or replace the cucumber "eye compresses" with herbal compresses.

Love Is In The Air

How do I know this? Because it's Valentine's Day. Duh! And because two of my kitties, two arch-enemy kitties, are sleeping together so peacefully. They're showing some luv to each other on this wonderfully [commercialized] romantic day. See >>>>
